What To Do With Your Down Days

Everyone and every business has down days. This is, for the most part, unavoidable. Obviously if you were working your leads then this should not happen very often. But if it does, here are some ideas that can make you feel better about having a down day:

1.  Create a \’To Do List\’ – You need to create a list of things that need to get done on your down days, these aren\’t going to be things that must be done now. Instead, these are things that will help you to be organized, like cleaning off the pile of mail on your desk, organizing your files online or offline. You could also set up a schedule reminder that can help you spend definite time on cold calling, setting flyers on cars and mailboxes, and so on.

2.  Change your \’To Do\’ List – Instead of overwhelming yourself with a long list of things that need to be done, you might ask yourself \”What is the one thing that I can do to build my business today?\” Once you have figured that out, turn off all interruptions and give yourself the permission to  completely submerge yourself in that project until completed. This method redirects the feeling of not accomplishing anything on a very long \’To Do\’ list, to one of complete satisfaction in knowing that you have completed the single most important duty that will build your business.

There are several other ideas that can help you to manage your down day, such as: Taking each item on your list and only allowing a preset time to complete them, perhaps for example, one hour for each task. Uninterrupted time will help you to move more quickly. You could even surprise yourself when all is said and done and find that you have completed your list entirely. You could also pick up your laptop and head to the Library. It\’s amazing how much you can get done in an unfamiliar environment.
